Election
2002
Updated
05/26/03 02:16 AM EST
Your Vote Does Count
Less than a week before the election next Tuesday
10, U.S. Senate races and 16 in the House of Representatives are considered too
close to call. This is an unprecedented number and far more than was the
case in the close 2000 election. The outcome of the Senate election contests is
particularly important as it will determine who controls the Senate.
The single best way to gain protection for
America's wilderness and wild places is to get elected leaders who share our commitment.
- Please vote on Tuesday, November 5th.
- Just as crucial, however, is that we
spread the word to our friends, families, and colleagues and remind
them to vote as well. Your personal encouragement will do more than any mass
email. Use meetings, the phone and email to tell them of the importance of
voting. Feel free
to forward this email to your friends and colleagues.
In
45 states it is easy to vote
early if for any reason it will be difficult for you to go to the polls on
Tuesday, November 5.
The results of the 2000 Presidential Election
would have been different if less than one voter per precinct had voted for Gore
in Florida. Details on
some past close elections.
